New Thanksgiving Traditions To Start This Year

Thanksgiving is fast approaching, and just because 2023 has not gone as expected doesn’t mean we have to miss out on beloved Thanksgiving traditions. However, some activities are less doable than others, so we came up with four new traditions to bring to the table this year. So, if you’re planning to have a few family members or friends over for dinner, you came to the right place! To us, Thanksgiving is more than a meal, and it is our mission to help you make the best memories around the table this year.

Create A Thankful Tree

We have a lot to be thankful for, and we should be putting our blessings on display! Make simple leaf place cards out of paper, and encourage your guests to write what they are thankful for on them. Before diving into your glorious food spread, go around the table and share what you wrote. Whether you’re giving thanks to good health or your dogs, acknowledging the positives in your life with those you love around you is a heartwarming activity for all. Once everyone is done, hang the leaves on the thankful tree and pull it out for years to come as a cute and sentimental centerpiece!

Elevate Kids Table Activities

Elevate Kids Table Activities

Just when the young ones in your family start to complain about sitting at the “kids table” again, make it the place to be in your home this Thanksgiving. Begin by laying down brown kraft paper, which can be found at any local craft store. When setting the table for the kids, set aside extra mugs to hold colored pencils, markers and other fun, art tools! The kids will have so much fun drawing all sorts of things—from family portraits to sweet hand turkeys. P.S. Get your little ones involved in prepping food and setting the table so they feel more involved in the day’s festivities!

Breathe New Life Into Vintage Pieces

Breathe New Life Into Vintage Pieces

As a company that has been around for over 130 years, we have become pros at bridging traditional styles with the modern craftsmanship and artistry of today. Whether you were handed down a dinnerware set or recently invested in gorgeous thrift finds, we encourage you to mix the old with the new and breathe life into your vintage pieces! This is a simple way to embrace your eclectic plate collection while also elevating your table setting style.

Make It A Full-Day Event

At the end of the day, Thanksgiving is about spending quality time with the ones you love most. While some of your traditions may be broken this year, we encourage you to do the most with what you have and enjoy a full day of making memories—no matter how many are around your table this year. Start the day with a family walk and hot cider, get the kids involved in meal prep, welcome them to make a toast with sparkling apple juice at the table and finish the night with games after dinner. There is so much you can do from the comforts of your own home.

We hope you enjoy Thanksgiving with some of your favorite faces around a beautifully set table. Share your Thanksgiving traditions—both new and old—by tagging us with #AMOMENTWITHLENOX and follow us @lenox on Instagram and Facebook for recipes, entertaining ideas and more.
